U.S. opposes Fla. limits on Cuba travel
MIAMI, April 11 (UPI) –
A lawyer for the U.S. Justice Department argued at a hearing Friday against a Florida law aimed at making travel to Cuba more difficult.
Michelle Bennett told a federal magistrate in Miami that the law, which requires travel agencies to post a $250,000 bond and pay as much as $2,500 in registration fees, is unconstitutional, The Miami Herald reported. Bennett said federal law pre-empts state travel restrictions and the Florida statute would make travel to Cuba more difficult by reducing the number of agencies offering to make arrangements.
The law, sponsored by state Rep. David Rivera, a Miami Republican, and passed in 2008, has not yet been enforced. South Florida travel agencies filed a lawsuit and won a temporary injunction in July.
The Bush administration limited Cubans living in the United States to one trip every three years to visit relatives. President Barack Obama changed that to once a year and is expected to end other restrictions on trave…

Private jet sales, premium travel slump
by Celine Le Prioux PARIS (AFP) –
Battered by the crisis and under pressure to ditch the high-flying lifestyle, executives from Tokyo to New York are shunning private jets and business-class fares, spelling hard times for both industries.
North American private jet makers, from Bombardier to Cessna and Hawker Beechcraft, have announced thousands of layoffs as they report a lag in new orders and a rash of cancellations for the status-symbol company planes.
“We’ve barely sold any Falcons since January,” said Serge Dassault, of the eponymous French manufacturer which has logged around 40 cancellations for its flagship private jet since September, around eight percent of all orders.
Chief executive Charles Edelstenne said he “would be ecstatic” if Dassault Aviation rounds out 2009 with an equal number of orders and cancellations, but predicted the year “will be much worse than …

Travel To Hawaii – Tips
Thinking of traveling to Hawaii? I can hardly blame you. If you’re like me, you live in a cold weather part of the world and the winter is starting to take its’ toll. Man, on a day like today where the weather is bitter cold and the snow is falling, I feel like going to an tropical location and getting my beach on.
Since I’m ready to pack my bags and travel to Hawaii, I think it’s important I look at some Hawaiian travel tips.
Hawaii Travel Tips
1) Wear your sunscreen. If you’re coming from a place that’s not all that sunny, prepare yourself for the Hawaiian sun. If you aren’t extra careful, you can be burned to a crisp. The Hawaii sun will fry an amateur.
2) Make sure to pack your summer clothes. You’ll need shorts, swim clothes, and sunglasses. Think summer, because Hawaii is the home of endless summer
3) Depending on what parts of the island you’ll visit, make sure to bring some durable, rugged clothes. There are certain tours you can take which will require rugged attire
Ahh, if only. I have no plans on going to Hawaii this week, but I am saving my pennies for the earliest possible chance.
