Geldof becomes editor for day
TURIN, Italy, July 5 (UPI) –
Rocker turned philanthropist Bob Geldof became editor-for-a-day Saturday of La Stampa, an Italian newspaper, helping prepare a special edition on Africa.
The Sunday paper is part of the run-up to the Group of Eight meeting scheduled for next week in L’Aquila, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.
Mario Calabresi, editor in chief of the Turin daily, said Thursday Geldof’s responsibilities as his co-editor would include assisting with page design, choosing photographs and writing headlines.
Geldof, a native of Ireland and former member of the Boomtown Rats, organized Band Aid and Live Aid. He is currently involved in ONE, a global campaign in which he collaborates with Bono of U2.

Scott Stapp Ready For ‘Rebirth’ Of Creed
TALLAHASSEE, Fl. Apr.28 (TOTI) –
Scott Stapp and his band members haven’t worked together professionally in half of a decade, but now Creed, known for their hits With Arms Wide Open, My Sacrifice and Higher, is regrouping, releasing a new album and launching a supporting concert tour.
Creed’s forthcoming album is tentatively titled Full Circle.
Stapp told Rolling Stone, “I wouldnt call it a reunion, Its a renewing and a rebirth. I missed my boys and wanted to create music with them again. We’re all thrilled to have a second chance to make a first impression.”
Scott Stapp and band members, Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall will kick off their American tour in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 6, 2009. The tour wraps up on October 14th.

Beyonce announces N. American tour dates
NEW YORK, April 18 (UPI) –
Beyonce is set to bring her I Am …
world tour to North America, starting in June at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Music World/Columbia Records said.
The recording artist is scheduled to wrap the North American leg of her tour with a four-night residence at Encore at Wynn Las Vegas July 30-Aug. 2. Stops in between the New York and Vegas gigs will include Washington; Philadelphia; Greensboro, N.C.; Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Atlanta; New Orleans; Houston; Dallas; Phoenix; Sacramento; Oakland, Calif.; Anaheim, Calif.; Los Angeles; Minneapolis; Chicago; Detroit; and Uncasville, Conn.
Tickets are to go on sale to the general public April 25 through Ticketmaster. Tickets for the four-night residence at Encore at Wynn Las Vegas will go on sale at a later date.

Stevie Nicks Is No Fan Of Technology
LOS ANGELES, Ca., Mar. 4 (TOTI) –
Stevie Nicks, of Fleetwood Mac fame, is a legendary rocker that has made music that’s stood the test of time. Now she’s on the road again with Fleetwood Mac and when asked by Rolling Stone about what she thinks of the current record industry, she had an interesting take.
“The Internet has destroyed it,” she said. “I miss buying an album and lying on the floor for three days and going over it with a magnifying glass.”
For Nicks, 60, digital music doesn’t come close to the old-school experience of going to music stores and buying music.
“I still go to the record store and spend hours there and buy a big bag of CDs,” she said.

The Jonas Brothers Are Psyched About Their 3-D Concert Experience
LOS ANGELES, Ca., Jan.16 (TOTI) –
The Jonas Brothers, Kevin Jonas, 21; Joe Jonas, 19 and Nick Jonas, 16, are pretty excited about their upcoming 3-D concert Experience.
The movie documents the Jo Bros. on their 2008 Burning Up tour with concert performances and commentary from Kevin, Nick and Joe.
The Jonas Brothers recently spoke with J-14 magazine about the film, and all of them were pretty pumped about the movie.
Kevin said, “I think the movie is the best performance of our lives! We got off stage and started pumping our fists in the air.”
Performance aside, Joe thinks the special effects in the 3-D film are pretty awesome. He told the magazine, “You’re going to want to throw your 3D glasses at the screen.”
Nick said, “I can’t wait to see everyone from our band in 3D!”

Rihanna Upset As Chris Brown Hits On Chicks

Rihanna didn’t enjoy her boyfriend Chris Brown hitting on some stray females, and she let the singer know it.
According to the Mirror, Brown and Rihanna were partying at Studio in Liverpool, and Brown just couldn’t stop himself from macking on the babes.
Rihanna strolled into the party and saw Brown dancing with a bevy of beauties. The Disturbia singer went Medusa on Brown.
“Chris invited them for a glass of Cristal. Then, as he started getting into the music, they had a dance-off. That was when Rihanna walked in. She was suffering from a cold so she was in a bad mood anyway,” an insider said.

Taylor Swift Beats Nickelback
LOS ANGELES, Ca., Jan. 15 (TOTI) –
Taylor Swift is currently whipping the competition, including Nickelback, when it comes to record sales. The former girlfriend of Joe Jonas has used her heartbreak to attrack a huge audience. This girl writes songs from her heart about her heart and it pays off when the soundtrack numbers come in. Of course January sales numbers tend to suck, but Swift still beat Nickelback by selling a total of 72,000 copies of Fearless.
Nickelback came in second with 53,000 copies of Dark Horse sold to the faithful.
