Militants stage attack in Mohmand
MOHMAND, Pakistan, July 6 (UPI) –
Armed militants attacked a tribal volunteer force in Mohmand Agency resulting in the deaths of nine volunteers and three militants, officials said.
Officials told DAWN, the Parkistani English-language news agency, members of the Qaumi Lashkar in Pamp Pokha area of Ambar tehsil came under attack late in the evening of July 2 as they returned to their base.
The militants captured three tribesmen. Officials said they believed the militants then fled to Bajaur.
Five militants were said to be injured.
Because militants from Bajaur often attack in Mohmand, the officials requested that the Mohmand administration discuss the matter with its counterparts in Bajaur. In addition, a group of 200 elders and volunteers urged Mohmand political agent Amjad Ali Khan to ask for security check points to help prevent more attacks.
