Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Gossip Roundup
LOS ANGELES, Ca., Jun. 30 (TOTI) –
Keeping track of all the gossip that surrounds Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is never easy. If you took all of the words that are written about these two in one week and made them into a ladder it would easily reach the moon. The recent gossip concerning Brangelina breaks down into several key areas.
1) Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are close to breakup. Ever since the introduction of “Nannygate” the rumors about the imminent demise of Pitt and Jolie have been on the rise. If you believe that Pitt has a wandering eye and Jolie is a vindictive and insecure vixen, then you can easily believe these rumors. Frankly I’d lay even money that Pitt is indeed a womanizer, or at the very least is flirty when he’s been drinking. I also would assume that Jolie is not someone who takes kindly to betrayal. If Pitt really ha…

School district officials told the News Principal Marsha Coates and Athletic Director Richard Prizant knew about the photo shoot. Coates declined comment, and Prizant could not be reached, the newspaper said.

Amnesty for some Tiger rebels
COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, June 30 (UPI) –
The Sri Lankan government, after claiming a crushing victory last month over Tamil Tiger rebels, may offer amnesty to some rebel suspects, an official said.
The government’s legal departments are drawing up guidelines for a structured amnesty program, which would be offered only to lower level Tamil Tiger suspects and their sympathizers, the Sri Lanka Sunday Times reported.
Senior rebel suspects who are arrested would still be tried in criminal courts, the report said, quoting an official identified only as being close to the amnesty process. The official was quoted as saying the general mood in the country is one of reconciliation.
There is no point in trying people with little evidence of wrongdoing,
he said.
Human rights groups have said about 10,000 postwar detainees with suspected links to the Tigers were being held at government safe houses. Some in the government advocate a reconciliation model similar to that adopte…

The office can help make you fat
CHICAGO, June 30 (UPI) –
Unhealthy snacks lingering around the company office are derailing employees’ efforts to stay healthy, a U.S. study finds.
A study investigating workplace eating habits sponsored by Peapod Business Delivery, shows that 63 percent of workers find it a challenge to eat healthy in the workplace. Seven percent of respondents report they eat healthier in the office than at home and workers cite unhealthy snack options as the number one obstacle to eating healthy while at work, the study says.

LAPD appoints first Muslim chaplain
LOS ANGELES, June 30 (UPI) –
The Los Angeles Police Department, hoping to improve relations with Muslims, has appointed the force’s first Islamic chaplain, police officials said.
Pakistan-born Sheik Qazi Asad, 47, will become a reserve chaplain at the North Hollywood station, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.
We need to establish very good communication … where both parties are talking to each other,
Asad told the Times. This is just opening up the door.
Asad, a U.S. citizen, has spent a decade working to improve relations between police and Muslim communities in Los Angeles County.
The LAPD hopes he’ll strengthen relations that have suffered since the department tried to map the city’s Muslim population in 2007, the newspaper said. The department abandoned the plan after critics called it religious profiling.
Asad has served as a member of the sheriff’s Executive Clergy Council, on which he worked to build trust between Muslims and police…

Book deal for former Edwards aide
NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) –
A former aide to John Edwards claims the former U.S. senator asked him to say he fathered a child with Edwards’ mistress, a publishing industry source said.
The aide, Andrew Young, has sold a proposal to St. Martin’s Press for a book in which he would say Edwards told him he would be taken care of for life
if he would say he was the father of a baby born to Rielle Hunter. Edwards — who represented North Carolina for one term in the U.S. Senate and was the Democratic Party vice presidential nominee in 2004 — has admitted an affair with Hunter but has denied he is the baby’s father.
In the proposal, Young quotes Edwards as begging him to claim he is the father of Hunter’s child, The New York Times reported.

China hikes fuel prices as crude costs rise
SHANGHAI (AFP) –
China has announced its second gasoline and diesel price hike in a month, reflecting more expensive crude prices internationally.
The average maximum retail price for gasoline was increased by 8.7 percent to 7,530 yuan (1,100 dollars) per tonne on Tuesday, according to a statement from the National Development and Reform Commission, the top planning agency.
The price for diesel was raised by 9.7 percent to 6,790 yuan per tonne, the statement said.
The increase comes after a rise of six to seven percent in gasoline and diesel prices on June 1.
The hike was “in line with the improved fuel pricing system and the recent movements in international oil prices”, it said.
It is the fourth rise since China announced a new fuel pricing system towards the end of 2008.
The new system aims to bring domestic prices closer in line with international cru…
